Customization or adaptation for diverse or special needs students:
One of my students is Special education. Her main problem is her long and short term memory. I will need to provide her always extra time for her to go back in to what we did the previous day and then re take what she did the last day.

The materials we will be using will be our laptop computers, paper, pencil and a copy of the internet vocabulary list.

During Class activities Problem based Learning
This lesson will be linked to the Unit I started about the Importance of the Census in our Country. This project will take my students about two to three weeks to have it ready.

Short description of unit and Problem :
During this Unit my English as Second Language students (ESL) will learn the importance of the Census in our country. They will write summaries, read and work on create a media project and explain to the class what was their conclusion about this government activity. During the development of such project they will be able to demonstrate their mastery on the previous skills I taught them. All these activities will be divided in four different lessons that will last about 1 week or two each one, depending on the students pace. All these new skills will help them to develop new English vocabulary and improve their speaking skills.
Use of Technology
They way students will use social networking in this class is by incorporating a session of discussions during the time they are learning about the Census and actually working on it. We will use our Moodle program to share ideas from class to class and also to ask questions. Students also will be using the internet to get more information about the census and its vocabulary. Finally technology will be used to create their final product where they will have to show their different outcomes.

Before students start working on their project they will help their teacher to make a rubric. In this rubric all the elements of a census which are develop a conceptual model that is worth of exploration and prepare a topographical framework for your Study.
The same rubric will be used for the teacher to evaluate each writing aspect of the students’ final product.
Once the writing activity is created and evaluated, the use of technology will be requested. Students and teacher will create another rubric. This rubric will describe all the aspects of a good technology visual or audio such as movie maker, power point and audacity product. This same rubric will be used to give them their grade.
Unit management
This unit will need for the students to work with a partner and a team. At the beginning of the Unit they will be with a partner looking for information to discuss about the topic. They will also need this partner for them to practice the vocabulary and have support. Then once this first step is accomplished I will divide them in to teams for them to start organizing and creating the big project.
Digital Story
After my students work on their census field experience they will have to gather all the information the collected from their classmates and get to a conclusion. They will present this information on a form of a digital story to their classmates.

Goals
Short description of unit and problem

Once my English Language learner students are done with their field experience. They will have to create a Digital story using the information they gathered. Before moving into the creation of the project they will have to work as a team on the writing of the story or video clip. Each student of the team will contribute with ideas and information to create the final report. They will listen to each other’s conclusions and together will pull a conclusion and work on a final report.
This is a very important writing piece since will give the conclusion of the team to the class. According to their experience the teams will conclude on what is the importance of the Census and how it does affect the distribution of the government moneys.
Actions
Use of Technology
After the writing piece is carefully proof read for other team and the teacher. The students will proceed to work on the digital story. Each student will be asked to record a piece of the essay and they will put it together in the movie make program. Once the audio is finished the selection of the pictures and graphs will be the easiest task to accomplish.
Monitor
Unit management

Each team member will have to contribute to this final project. Each team will have an evaluation slip where the names and tasks of the members will have to be described by each student. After the final project is done the teacher will be approached by the team and they will have to talk to the teacher what was their individual contribution.
